Regarding a comment on Deluze not “dislocating the self:” I will eventually be blogging or posting on Deleuze's concept of self (at the end of chapter 5, 'Difference and Repetition'). This brilliant exposition of the critique of identity is a classic in contemporary philosophy and one of Deleuze's most important works. What repetition has as its correlate the maximum difference? Let me first state my question as succinctly as I can and then add a few qualifying comments. I've posted my lectures and outlines for Deleuze's Difference and Repetition, which I taught for the first time this semester. When students read Difference and Repetition for the first time, they face two main hurdles: the wide range of sources that Deleuze draws upon and his dense writing style. Criticisms focus on the lack of originality, the proliferation of banality and boredom, the suppression of creativity that the infinite replication of web content produces.
